It handles LTL consolidation and multi-modal operations using Windows and Oracle. Keypoint calls it a complete automation solution for third party logistics companies. Owner Operator - One Truck Man
More than half (53%) of owner operators have just one truck, according to the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association. 32% have 2 or 3 trucks. Very few have more than that. 9% operate 4 to 9 trucks and only 6% have 10 or more trucks. The HDMA report covers Classes 6 through 8 trucks operated and maintained by private sector businesses in the U.S.

TIA Members - Small Brokers
The Transportation Intermediaries Association has released a report that shows that the vast majority of its membership is small freight brokers. 83% do a volume of less than $10 million. Only 9% do $20 million or more. Some 30% of TIA members also operate trucks.

TCA Rejects ATA
Just before the Truckload Carriers Association made its historic vote not to remain a conference of the American Trucking Associations, its well-known executive director, Lana Batts, resigned. Batts had held the position for more than five years, through a tumultuous time in the history of the organization. She made her announcement, stating that she did not want her job to be an issue when members made their decision.
    The vote to leave ATA was extremely close, but did favor withdrawal. TCA is still located in the ATA building, as of this writing. Details: www.truckload.org

Batts Goes Dot Com
Former TCA executive director Lana Batts has become executive vice president and chief development officer of Transportal, a business-to-business e-commerce company. The firm provides pooled purchasing, load matching and technology optimization.
