August 24 to 30 was named National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. The promotion and accompanying activities throughout the country were sponsored by the American Trucking Associations (ATA).

  ATA President and CEO Bill Graves said, "Our truck drivers are the industry's most important asset. They deliver America safely each and every day." He pointed out that, "America's professional truck drivers deliver 87% of the total value of goods in this country."

  Some ten million people - more than one in every 14 American workers - are directly or indirectly employed by trucking, including you. What we do is worth celebrating.
