Gee Elected Chairman of TIA
David E. Gee, CTB has been elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA), which represents the $40 billion third party logistics industry.
Gee is president of VHI Transport, formerly Virginia Hiway, Inc., a professional transportation brokerage that has been headquartered in Richmond since its inception, 25 years ago. A debt-free company,
VHI Transport is one of the top 10% of transportation brokers nationwide, in volume and reputation.
The firm arranges transportation for freight by truck, truckload, intermodal, ship and air throughout the United States. Its Logistics Division is involved with supply chain management and reporting and handles international freight including containers and consolidation. Its Government Division handles extensive shipping for the Military Traffic Management Command and other government agencies. The Flatbed Division handles heavy equipment and oversize loads.
Gee has been a member of TIA (formerly the Transportation Brokers Conference of America) for more than twenty years. He has served in various capacities on the board of directors and the executive committee for more than a decade.
Headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, TIA is the only organization exclusively representing transportation intermediaries of all disciplines doing business in domestic and international commerce. The organization is the United States member of the International Federation of Freight Forwarder Associations, FIATA.
Gee has earned the professional designation of Certified Transportation Broker (CTB), a highly respected indicator of transportation expertise, awarded by the TIA.
Gee is also owner of radio station WXGI in Richmond and is actively involved in community activities. He and his wife Judy are residents of Powhatan.
