A model contract for shippers and brokers has been developed and approved by the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) and the National Industrial Transportation League (NITL). The contract was presented at the joint meeting in San Antonio of TIA, NITL and the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA).

The contract states basic provisions and can be used as it stands, or customized (although the customized version cannot be called the model contract). After an antitrust review by the Justice Department, the contract will be posted on the websites of both TIA and NITL. The contract will be available to any shipper and/or broker, without cost.

This model of presentation follows the shipper/motor carrier model contract created by the American Trucking Associations (ATA) and NITL, which is available on the websites of both ATA and NITL.
